Happy Australia Day!

Last week Mike headed into Perth for the week to play on the rural cricket team, and so I was left on the farm for 4 days to tend to the animals and pets.  I only lasted 4 days.  Have you ever spent 4 days in utter solitude?  It’s actually a very difficult thing for me to do!

The evenings left me sleepless and terrified.  Tess would be growling in the bed beside me (something she’s not really ever done before) at nothing…  Which obviously freaked me out a bit in the middle of the night.  I started worrying about serial killers.

I’ve spent the last four sunny, glorious days at the beach with Brian and Tessa.

The tide was headed out this morning and I was able to test out my camera under water.  A little curious octopus kept trying to grab my camera from me!  I was laughing, and quite amused.  He must have been hungry.

Mike came back today and I was so glad to see him.  We had a bbq with all of the locals, and snorkelled for a while in the ocean before we headed to the farm together.

  1. I spent a week once up north all by myself and I did a lot of talking to the dog. Thankfully he was there, otherwise I’d be talking to myself lol and probably answering back too!
Octopus, totally creepy and kind of cute. I really like the bubble pic!

    • Did you live in a community? I was so alone, about a 20 kilometre radius of empty houses…and just me. All of the neighbours were gone. It’s a scary thought! I’m glad there were no fires, or emergencies while I was here or I don’t know what I would have done…panicked and cried is most likely! I’m glad you like the photos! I thought the octopus was really cute too!

  2. That’s an awesome shot of you on the skim-board!
Funny how I was just saying my animal would be an Octopus… and you run into one!
You’re a strong soul. Tess had your back.

    • Adam…that’s not me…. That’s a 10 year old boy!!
My guesses were that Tess was growling at ghosts, or serial killers. Both terrifying! haha…either way I got to spend 4 awesome days at the beach.
I did think of you when I saw the octopus. It was about as big as my (tiny) hand.
