Last night it rained. So we didn’t finish up, but we’ll be done tonight! Mike and I (and Tessie!) will be wrapping up our 2 year journey over the next few days. Farming in Western Australia has been a real experience, the experience of a lifetime. I’ve done so many things out here I never imagined possible.
Have you been to Western Australia? Where was your favourite place?
I’ve had a really nice drive to work!
They call these things “white ants”. I’d call it a “termite”.
The sun rise struggling over some heavy fog.
It was a white knuckle drive this morning…
These beetles are still kicking it on that nice smelling plant.
Beautiful photo!

Most beautiful photography – I so much enjoy seeing what you are seeing. I think “desert fog” can be the thickest, most scary thing to drive in. Once in awhile we get it in the West but things definitely look a little greener in Western Australia. Fascinating flowers and bugs and it is a good thing you take a great photo.

The flowers and bugs here keep me busy. I think of it like a treasure hunt. When I found the bunny orchids last week I was whooping and hollering for joy! ahahah Literally. I’m glad no one was around. I felt like I found the mother load. I get so excited about these little finds.

Seriously, you need to be a botanist and bug scientist, as well as a photographer. Those bunny orchids were exquisite – what a great find for you and us. I don’t blame you for getting excited – I watched a red fox hunting in a field this week and thought it was the most wonderful thing of the day.

Lived in Perth for 15 years but the Kimberley and Pilbara have my heart always. All that rugged, unforgiving land just has this incredible draw. Where are you off to next?

Perth! City living…hopefully I’ll be shooting more fashion and wildlife. And I’ll have to get an office job. Mike’s looking to find work in the mining industry so we can save a lot before we move to NZ to buy our own little hobby farm.

NZ, that’s still my dream also

Love your photos! Western Australia seems like a harsh climate, but so beautiful. Do you get sunburn easily there? Think that ozone hole is above Australia and New Zealand.

Hi Lucy,
Yes the sun is very hard here. I feel that i get more little freckles each time I am out in the sun for a full day! No joke! I think it’s very beautiful, and yes also brutal. Summer is the hardest climate to cope with, especially if you have to work in it!
